Brian Smith is a development professional with more than 25 years of executive experience.

A former U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of the Philippines, Brian has worked with U.S. and international organizations in community and economic development, strategic planning, business planning, fundraising and strategic communications. He has served as a volunteer, senior staff, executive director, board member and consultant to numerous nonprofit organizations over the past 25 years.

Brian has created development programs for nonprofit organizations, and for the past 5 years has directed multi-million dollar capital campaigns.
Trained by the Peter F. Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management (now the Leader to Leader Institute) in organizational assessment and planning, and by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation in business plan development, he has helped hundreds of nonprofit organizations build their organizational capacity, and has raised millions of dollars for client organizations.
His capital campaign experience includes churches, schools, libraries, public broadcasting and other organizations and he has received national recognition for award-winning communications and publications.

Brian is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and has served on the board of the First Coast AFP Chapter. He is in demand as a speaker and trainer on topics such as marketing, fundraising, strategic planning and image building. As a teacher and trainer, he frequently conducts classes in business plan development, fundraising, and marketing for mission-based organizations.
A Journalism graduate from the University of South Carolina, Brian has served on the Board of Directors of the Jacksonville Economic Development Company (JEDCO) and on the City of Jacksonville Community Development Advisory Council. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Shoshannah Arts Center in Jacksonville, Florida. |
